Arizona Day One: Fueling Pooja’s Next Adventure—and Selling Books!

Hello, friends of travel and tales!

Yesterday was a whirlwind—a long, wonderful first day in Arizona after flying out of Dallas at 6:00 AM, through Phoenix, and into Sedona with my best friend Susan for our annual Mardi Gras trip. From farm-fresh breakfasts to ancient cliffs, it was a day of inspiration—and a spark for the next Pooja book, set in Oklahoma with Native American roots. Plus, I’ve got 50 hardcover copies of Pooja: Destiny Awaits ($25.00 each) ready to sell—let’s get moving!

Arizona Day One: A New Order

We kicked off at Morning Glory Farm, a farm-to-table spot on a working farm. Breakfast was a delight—fresh eggs, vibrant flavors, and a crowd as diverse as Sedona itself. Families, all cultures, dogs bounding, even a couple with two stunning white birds! Next, we hit Arcosanti—an urban lab from the 1970s blending architecture and sustainability. As a Louisiana Tech design professor, it fueled my inner architect—I snagged a bronze bell, cast onsite, for a client. Then, Montezuma’s Castle blew me away—cliff dwellings from 9,000 years ago, whispering stories of the Sinagua people. We wrapped with a breath work session—calm after a creative storm.

Pooja’s Next Chapter: Oklahoma

This trip’s stirring the next Pooja book—set in Oklahoma, where she aids animals after a tornado, meeting the Great White Buffalo Spirit and befriending critters. Sedona’s Native American echoes, like Montezuma’s Castle, are sinking in. It’s about widening kids’ worlds (ages 4-8), just like travel does for me—breaking small beliefs with big adventures. Illustrating Pooja’s empathy and curiosity is why I love this work—and why we’re selling her first tale now!
